Job summary

UHC United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, West Virginia seeks a Patient Care Technician to provide nonprofessional direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role delivers high-quality patient care in coordination with licensed medical staff.

Responsibilities include observing patient conditions, assisting with admissions/transfers, recording vital signs, aiding in hygiene, and maintaining a clean environment to prevent infections.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Must meet one: Nationally certified patient care technician; WVUM PCT program completion; or current CNA certification in relevant state.

Responsibilities

• Observe and report patient concerns/changes to a registered nurse immediately.
• Assist the RN with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Record vital signs and assist in personal hygiene and comfort measures.
• Record intake/output and monitor temperature and blood pressure.
• Assist in specimen collection and other patient activities.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment to prevent infections and ensure safety.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
• Communicate nutrition issues to RN and document appropriately.
• Support department operations with administrative tasks and answer calls.
