Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Orthopaedic SG3 North area. This part-time night role supports RN-led care, performs basic nursing tasks, and ensures patient comfort and safety in a busy unit.

The position requires a high school diploma, CNA/CMA/EMT or nursing student with clinical exposure, and BLS certification. Excellent communication and teamwork are essential in this patient-first environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• CNA, CMA, EMT, or nursing student with one semester of clinical completed is required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care activities as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and blood glucose and recording intake/output.
• Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Reports abnormal findings to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and multi-tasking under stress.
• Prioritizes unit work and communicates effectively with staff and families.
