Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Patient Care Technician for the General Medicine 13S unit. The role supports the RN in direct and indirect patient care during night shifts. It requires CNA certification or nursing student status, CPR (BLS), and strong safety training adherence.

Qualifications

• CNA certification or current enrollment in nursing school with basic clinical rotations.
• CPR certification recognized by American Heart Association (BLS for Healthcare Providers).
• Minimum 90% on annual mandatory Health and Safety Training quizzes.
• Unit-based recognition for Capillary Blood Glucose Monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Assists with admission, transfer and discharge processes.
• Takes and records vitals including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, weight and height.
• Operates and monitors cardiac, oxygen and related equipment as directed by RN.
• Gathers specimens and assists with routine clinical procedures for adults and neonates.
• Transports patients and equipment; responds to calls and emergencies with RN support.
• Provides newborn care and assists with peri-care, feeding and daily activities.
• Prepares rooms and supplies; stocks equipment and maintains a clean, safe environment.
• Participates in quality improvement activities and team meetings.
