Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Part-time Patient Care Technician for the Neurosciences 10W unit, 24 hours per week across night shifts. The role requires CNA certification or current nursing study, CPR (BLS), and strong patient-care skills.

Eligible candidates should have a high school diploma and may have nursing education experience or related college coursework. Responsibilities include assisting RNs with admissions, vitals, newborn care where applicable, phlebotomy, and patient

Qualifications

• CNA certification or currently enrolled in nursing school.
• CPR recognition by the American Heart Association (BLS).
• Minimum 90% on mandatory Health and Safety Training quizzes.
• Unit-based recognition for Capillary Blood Glucose Monitoring.
• High school diploma required; one year of college or nursing education or equivalent preferred.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
• Record vital signs for adults and neonates and monitor patient status.
• Perform phlebotomy and glucose checks; obtain EKG where applicable.
• Provide newborn care and assist with infant security and screening.
• Transport patients and supplies; respond to call lights and emergencies.
• Support RN with direct and indirect patient care activities.
