Job summary

Endeavor Health at Highland Park Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support RN/LPN in delivering patient care, safety, and comfort. The role emphasizes ADLs, vital signs, and patient transport while adhering to hospital policies.

This full-time, night-shift position (7p-7:30a) with rotating weekends offers 36 hours and a range of benefits and growth opportunities within the organization.

Qualifications

• Eligible to work in the US.
• CNA training course preferred.
• Completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical nursing preferred.
• Current BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider issued by American Heart Association required.
• No experience required.

Responsibilities

• Patient & Visitor Interactions /Customer Service/Hourly Rounding: In this role, the PCT will interact with patients and visitors, answering patient call lights, answering phones, assisting visitors within the facility.
• Patient Safe Handling/Ambulation/Repositioning: Learn patient safe handling skills to assist in ambulation and help nursing staff with transferring, lifting and repositioning using Safe Patient Handling equipment.
• Basic Nursing Care- ADLs: Provide basic care by assisting patients with bathing, grooming, oral care, eating, feeding, bedpan or urinal use, positioning, and responding to call lights.
• Admission/Discharge/Transfers: Assist with room setup, patient orientation, discharges and transfers, transport/escort to destinations, and update patients.
• Procedures and Treatments: Complete and document ADL, vital signs, weights, intake/output, calorie counts, and explain/perform procedures under RN direction.
• Care Companion/Sitter/Observer: May stay with a patient as a safety measure under RN/LPN supervision.
• Department Specific Tasks: Support nursing with indirect patient care, restocking, cleaning equipment, filing, delivering supplies and results.
