Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System in Houston's Northeast Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician II to provide direct patient care in a Med/Surg unit, under the supervision of a licensed nurse.

The role requires a year of patient care experience (or similar) and BLS certification within 90 days. Responsibilities include vital signs, hygiene, mobility, documentation, safety, and collaborating with the care team to deliver compassionate, personalized care.

Qualifications

• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association within 90 days of employment.
• One (1) year of prior patient care experience (e.g., CNA, EMT, PCT) or similar role, preferably in an acute care setting.
• Proficiency in the Core Competencies of the PCT I and II position as noted in Memorial Hermann’s PCT Competency Based Tool and validated by Clinical Education before end of orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care for assigned patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Vital signs, hygiene support, toileting support, mobility support, nutrition support, bathing, charting and other ADLs as needed.
• Timely and accurate documentation of information and reporting unusual changes to the nurse.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment and adheres to safety rules and policies.
• Obtains and prepares laboratory specimens as prescribed within the scope of the role.
• Supports orientation of new employees and contributes to department goals and standards.
