Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
• Must meet one of: nationally certified patient care technician; WVUM Patient Care Technician program; current CNA certification (state).

Responsibilities

• Observe and report patient concerns/changes to RN immediately.
• Assist RN with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Record vital signs and assist in hygiene and comfort tasks.
• Assist in specimen collection and activities of assigned patients.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment to prevent infections.
• Report equipment repairs to appropriate personnel.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
• Communicate nutrition issues to RN.
• Assist department with administrative tasks.
• Answer patient call bells and relay messages.
