Job summary

WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV seeks a Night Shift Nursing Assistant to provide direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision. You will observe and report patient changes, assist with admissions, discharges, vital signs, hygiene, nutrition, and maintain a safe environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma and BLS within 30 days. Prior patient care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire date.
• Prior patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe and report changes in patient condition to a registered nurse immediately.
• Assist RN with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care tasks.
• Record vital signs and assist with personal hygiene and comfort measures.
• Assist in specimen collection and activities for assigned patients.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment to prevent infections and ensure safety.
• Report equipment repairs to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Prepare patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicate nutrition issues to RN (e.g., appetite, diet changes).
• Assist department with administrative tasks to support operations.
• Answer patient call bells and relay messages.
