Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center - A Duke LifePoint Hospital in Clyde, NC is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Assistant for the PCU/Telemetry unit. The role supports RN staff, monitors patient vitals, assists with daily living activities, and helps ensure safe, clean patient rooms.

The position requires a high school diploma, BLS within 30 days, and NC CNAI registration within 6 months; CNA or EMT license is preferred. 7p–7a night shifts with rotating weekends offered.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Registered in NC as CNAI within 6 months of completing training.
• CNA or EMT license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care as delegated by an RN and monitors vital signs.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation).
• Observes and promptly reports abnormal findings to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms and common areas clean, safe, and stocked.
• Manages the tech desk and supports nursing/physician staff and throughput.
• Documents care and activities per unit standards.
• Participates in performance improvement and required education; performs other duties as assigned.
