Job summary

Southshorehealth is seeking a Nursing Assistant for the Weymouth, MA area. The role involves assisting with patient care, safely transporting patients, and supporting unit operations on a night shift.

Responsibilities include observing patient data, reporting to the RN, and maintaining safety standards. The position requires BLS certification, basic medical knowledge, and effective communication and documentation skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• Previous Nursing Assistant or equivalent experience preferred.
• BLS - Basic Life Support.
• Basic medical terminology
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately
• Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals
• N12x3/wk , every 3rd weekend and every other holiday

Responsibilities

• Patient Care - Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to provide direct/non-direct care to patients under the direct supervision of licensed personnel.
• Observes, obtains and reports patient data/status to assigned RN.
• Responds to acuity and emergent situations as directed by nursing staff.
• Professional Development - Maintains current knowledge/certification including BLS, and serves as a preceptor to new employees.

• Verifies patient identification with 2 identifiers prior to the start of any procedure.
• Understands roles in hospital codes and emergency preparedness.
• Complies with CDC hand hygiene guidelines and universal precautions; uses PPE.
• Maintains awareness of patient fall risk and use of safety devices.
• Conducts patient safety rounds following SBAR and chain of command.
• Demonstrates proper body mechanics and use of patient lifts.
• Technology - Operates department software and understands downtime procedures.
• Compliance - Works within legal, regulatory and ethical standards; follows policies; protects patient privacy.
• Patient and Family Center Care - Respects patient/family values and preferences; collaborates in planning and delivery of care.
• Age & Culture - Interacts with diverse populations with sensitivity; utilizes interpreters as needed.
