Job summary

Bronson Lakeview Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Assistant for the Night shift on a part-time basis at Bronson Lakeview, Paw Paw. The PCA provides basic patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and performs activities of daily living support, patient transport, and routine department tasks.

Orientation includes full-time hours during the first 6-8 weeks with three 12-hour day shifts weekly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Obtain BLS Certification by the end of the orientation period.
• For BCOM Only: Successful completion of Certified Nurse Aide Exam within 4 months of hire.
• A PCA/tech may be asked to assist in a patient safety assistant role while maintaining PCA/tech duties for that assigned patient.
• Basic medical terminology knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care under RN supervision and in accordance with unit policies.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and transport as needed.
• Support department maintenance activities and stocking supplies.
• Respond to call lights and assist with patient needs.
• Document findings in EMR in a timely, accurate manner.
• Prepare patients for surgery and/or procedures as directed by the RN.
