Job summary

Roper St. Francis Healthcare is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support operative and invasive procedures by preparing sterile instruments, maintaining the sterile field, and assisting the surgical team.

The position requires certification (CST, NBSTSA) or TS-C as applicable, BLS at hire, and an associate/technical education in surgical technology. Shifts are Monday through Thursday, 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM with on-call as scheduled, including holiday coverage.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, Vocational Certification, or Military Certificate in Surgical Technology is required.
• Certification as CST, NBSTSA, or TS-C per policy (SC NBSTSA certification required; TS-C not accepted for Cincinnati).
• BLS from American Heart Association required at hire for RSFH locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and provide sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment for procedures.
• Maintain sterile field and assist with drapes; pass instruments during procedures.
• Perform surgical counts with circulating RN; ensure aseptic technique and instrument return.
• Retrieve and label specimens; report implanted devices, drains, and packing.
• Assist in pre/post-procedure cleaning and contribute to safety and education.
