Job summary

Community Health Systems is seeking a Surgical Technician – Certified to support operating room procedures during night shifts on a PRN basis. The role focuses on preparing the sterile field, handling instruments, and ensuring efficient OR operations under the supervision of the perioperative team.

Required CST certification and BLS, with 0–2 years OR experience and a technical or Associate degree in Surgical Technology.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational skills to maintain efficient workflow.

Responsibilities

• Prepare OR by setting up instruments and supplies per procedure and physician preference.
• Maintain sterile field and follow aseptic technique throughout surgery.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments efficiently during procedures.
• Handle instruments per hospital policy, including cleaning and sterilization.
• Assist with patient positioning, draping, and transfer under RN direction.
• Maintain physician preference cards and procedural documentation.
• Restock supplies and prepare rooms for subsequent cases.
