Job summary

Feed Energy Company in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead plant operations on a 6 PM–6 AM, 2/2/3 schedule. You will coordinate daily production, enforce SOPs, and train team members to ensure safety and quality.

This role requires 2+ years supervisory experience, strong communication, and the ability to manage shifts, safety, and performance metrics while supporting customer requirements.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of supervisory experience in related industry or field.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, customer service skills.
• Ability to follow directions, interpret written instructions, basic math skills, and operate a computer.
• Must have valid Iowa driver’s license and be able to obtain/maintain in Des Moines location.

Responsibilities

• Participates in plant leadership activities and attends coordination and planning meetings, including those outside of regular shift hours.
• Plans and organizes work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet daily and long-term production goals.
• Enforces adherence to SOPs and leads training efforts to ensure team understanding of updates and procedural changes.
• Leads daily pass down meetings and ensures effective communication across shifts to support a cohesive team environment.
• Approves safe work permits for maintenance and contractors to ensure safe execution of non-routine tasks.
• Monitors operations, equipment, and automated systems to ensure smooth, efficient production; addresses issues as they arise.
• Maintains understanding of full production process to support troubleshooting and cross-functional support.
• Oversees material movement, inventory accuracy, and blend preparation to meet specifications.
• Reviews production data, meeting notes, and performance metrics to stay informed and aligned with priorities.
• Investigates safety incidents and maintains proactive safety culture.
• Maintains visible floor presence and performs Operator duties during gaps or staffing shortages.
• Addresses front-line issues related to production, personnel, or safety in a timely manner.
• Supports customer complaint investigations and contributes to root cause analysis.
• Monitors operator performance, morale, and conduct; provides coaching and progressive discipline.
• Oversees onboarding and training to ensure operator development and compliance.
• Demonstrates company values in daily leadership and interactions.
