Job summary

Airgas in Star, MS is hiring an Operations Expediter for the night shift to oversee the yard and distribution activities. You will supervise loading/unloading, coordinate with plant and distribution managers, ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and asset management, and drive efficient operations.

This role requires a high school diploma with supervisory experience, knowledge of OSHA, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Forklift certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education & Experience: High School diploma plus 3 years supervising 10+ production workers.
• Leadership & Discipline: Enforce policies, manage staff fairly and professionally.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean/Six Sigma).
• Administration & Communication: Strong written/verbal skills and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Support and guide daily operational functions in the manufacturing yard, including safe motor vehicle execution and asset handling.
• Supervise transportation and vendor schedules for safe traffic flow and policy alignment.
• Coordinate with Production to streamline floor operations and communicate order status and safety metrics.
• Plan workforce staffing, shift scheduling, and coverage for loading/unloading personnel.
• Track on-site assets (trailers and boxes) to ensure availability.
• Conduct quality assurance during loading/offloading to meet safety and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate vehicle and trailer maintenance planning with plant leadership.
• Maintain OSHA compliance and safety program adherence across site operations.
• Operate material handling equipment (forklifts) occasionally and provide on-call safety guidance.
