Job summary

MercyOne North Iowa in Mason City is seeking an Operating Engineer to maintain and operate boilers, chillers, medical gas systems, domestic water, and air handling, including steam distribution and pneumatic controls. Knowledge of sprinkler controls, fuel systems, and other building systems is required.

Qualifications

• High school graduate with 3 years experience supporting industrial equipment or operating boiler systems.
• 2-year HVAC degree or equivalent experience.
• Must obtain boiler operator license within 12 months.
• Must be mechanically inclined and able to stay calm under pressure.
• Must be computer literate and have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and monitor boilers and their support systems.
• Operate, maintain and monitor chillers, chilled water and their support systems.
• Maintain domestic water and hydronic heating/cooling distribution equipment.
• Operate and monitor air handling systems and related equipment.
• Perform daily water testing and maintain chemical levels.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing plant equipment.
• Maintain logs and operate building management and maintenance systems.
