Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System is seeking a timely, knowledgeable Plant Operations Technician to oversee hospital plant operations. The role focuses on maintaining boilers, chillers, HVAC, water treatment, and emergency power systems to ensure a safe, reliable healthcare environment.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED and 1–2 years in steam plant operations and HVAC, plus hospital plant experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years experience in steam plant operations.
• 1–2 years experience in HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning).
• 1–2 years experience troubleshooting equipment in mechanical or electrical fields preferred.
• 1 year previous experience in hospital plant operations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, water treatment systems and testing, medical air and vacuum systems, compressors, and refrigeration systems following policies to ensure safe environment.
• Operates and tests the Emergency Generator and Transfer Switch System to ensure essential electrical functions during emergencies.
• Operates HVAC systems, building automation systems, refrigeration monitoring systems, patient care systems, and all support equipment.
• Performs scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs of environmental control equipment and patient care systems.
• Performs and documents scheduled equipment inspection rounds for maintenance control.
• Performs water testing to determine chemical levels and treats systems to meet requirements.
• Maintains inventory of parts and supplies for timely maintenance and repair.
• Monitors and documents all work tasks for maintenance management control.
• Establishes good working relations with staff, patients, supervisors, vendors for excellent customer service.
