Job summary

UI Health in Chicago, IL is seeking a Nursing Technician under RN supervision to deliver patient care within the Relationship-Based Care model and support leadership, evidence-based practice, and a collaborative team approach.

The role emphasizes patient safety, learning opportunities, and strong teamwork. Required CNA license, active IL IDPH registry, and current BLS/CPR are essential, with an 0.8 FTE night schedule (11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.), every other weekend.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Possession of a CNA license from an accredited institution.
• Registered and active on the Illinois Department of Public Health CNA Registry.
• Current BLS/CPR and other required unit-specific certifications.
• Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills, and work history.
• State of Illinois resident.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient admission, transfer or discharge as assigned and supports the patient by performing activities of daily living.
• Documents patient information in EHR (such as vital signs, nursing care provided, intake and output).
• Acts as a patient/family advocate by providing comfort, assistance and information and provides feedback to RN or LPN on patient care and condition as directed.
• Demonstrates teamwork and effective communication to achieve quality outcomes, safety, satisfaction, and a safe environment.
• Participates in organizational, departmental and shared leadership activities; supports goals in daily behavior.
• Identifies recurring clinical problems and participates in problem solving and resolution.
• Collaborates with staff to provide learning experiences for staff and students.
• Pursues continued professional growth by identifying learning needs and taking steps to meet them.
• Other duties as assigned.
