Job summary

UChicago Medicine in Chicago's Hyde Park location seeks a Nursing Support Assistant (NSA) to join the 3CS Surgical unit. The role is 100% onsite with a 0.9 FTE schedule, primarily night shifts from 7:30pm to 7:00am, reporting to the Surgical team under management and clinical supervision.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, current Illinois HCWR CNA eligibility or nursing student status, and CPR/BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Must have High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be listed on the HCWR as an Illinois CNA or nursing student with exam.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Physical effort including lifting up to 50 lbs and long shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care including vital signs and basic tests.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and hygiene.
• Assist with nourishment, ambulation, and mobility.
• Collect specimens and weigh patients as needed.
• Assist with discharge and transfer preparation.
• Maintain patient environment and supplies; clean beds and rooms.
• Document activities accurately in logs.
• Initiate CPR when needed and coordinate with physicians.
• Perform receptionist duties for the area as requested.
