Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Part Time CNA-type caregiver for the Surgical Intermediate Care Unit (2A) in Illinois. Shifts are 6pm–6:30am with rotating weekends, providing direct basic care under RN supervision.

The role supports adult patients with acute medical, surgical and cardiac conditions, handling vitals, daily living activities, and communication with the care team to maintain throughput and safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or nursing student with one semester of clinical completed.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic nursing care activities as delegated by an RN, including vital signs and glucose measurements.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and personal care.
• Report abnormal findings to nursing staff promptly.
• Maintain clean and orderly patient rooms and unit spaces.
• Demonstrate flexibility and multi-tasking in a high‑stress environment.
• Coordinate unit workflow with RN in charge and other staff.
