Job summary

UPMC Community Osteopathic is seeking a Nursing Assistant for its Medical-Surgical Unit to support RN-directed patient care on a night shift schedule (7pm–7am) with every other weekend and every other holiday. The NA will assist with ADLs, documentation, and unit activities while maintaining safety and quality of care.

The role includes communicating with patients and families, reporting changes in patient status, and contributing to a collaborative healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Performs Nursing Assistant duties under RN direction including ADLs (bathing, feeding, transporting, toileting, ambulating, turning/repositioning).
• Completes medical record documentation per procedures and reports equipment malfunctions.
• Responds to call lights, passes meal trays, and supports unit activities.
• Maintains patient safety and environment; cleans rooms and equipment; changes linens; manages supplies and nourishments.
• Provides feedback to RN on patient status and communicates with patients and families.
• Performs core NA responsibilities: ADLs, point-of-care testing, vital signs, I&O, telemetry monitoring, and urine collection.
