Job summary

ECU Health Nursing Assistant position involves providing direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse in a 0.9 FTE, night-shift role. The NA participates in unit and hospital goals, supports safety and infection control, and ensures accurate documentation within medical records.

Observational duties may apply for patient monitoring per plan of care. The role requires NAI licensure in NC, a current HeartSaver (or higher) certification, and completion of de-escalation training

Qualifications

• High School or GED is preferred - or higher.
• NAI listing with NC Department of Health and Human Services is required.
• Current American Heart Association HeartSaver or higher certification is required.
• De-escalation training must be completed within 90 days of employment and maintained during employment.

Responsibilities

• Participates in Quality Improvement (QI) activities and cost savings efforts.
• Attends staff development programs and participates in orientation of new staff and students.
• Follows hospital policies and maintains licensure as an NAI.
• Maintains professional communication and teamwork with care team.
• Participates in unit and hospital goal setting and supports cost-effective use of equipment and supplies.
• Under supervision, assists in direct patient care and completes delegated skills as listed by NC DHHS.
• Monitors patients and alerts nurse to any risk of harm.
• Maintains hazard surveillance and engages patients in appropriate activities.
