Job summary

Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital seeks a Nursing Assistant I/II for the Hospital Observation Unit on the night shift. Work under RN supervision, provide empathetic patient care, and document care and vital signs while supporting daily living activities.

Qualifications include one year of relevant patient care experience or CNA training; NYS CNA license is preferred. This is a full-time role with potential shift differentials and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• Possession of or ability to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities during the probationary period.
• One year of satisfactory full-time experience in the provision of simple treatment and other patient care services under professional supervision.
• Preferred: NYS Certified Nursing Assistant license or certification from an approved CNA training program; HS Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Change simple dressings and perform enema, douche, and irrigation tasks as directed.
• Apply heat/cold therapy and assist with comfort measures per protocol.
• Chart and document care and patient conditions as required.
• Take temperatures, pulse, BP and respiration rates.
• Assist with activities of daily living and personal care to maintain comfort.
• Feed patients requiring assistance to ensure proper nourishment.
• Bathe, dress, and attend to personal hygiene of patients.
• Respect patient rights, dignity, and confidentiality.
• May perform housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean clinical environment.
