MU Health Care is seeking a dynamic Nurse Tech to support patient care in the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute In-Patient unit. This on-site role involves assisting nursing staff, ensuring patient comfort and timely responses, and contributing to a compassionate care environment.

The position emphasizes empathy, multitasking, and collaboration with patients and families, with shifts that include nights and every other weekend, and a competitive hourly base pay with a differential for evenings,

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a nursing education program or completed Fundamentals of Nursing within 90 days.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or CNA exam registration.
• Proof of certification as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) or related patient-care credential.
• Direct patient care experience in the past 3 years as a medical assistant, nursing assistant, EMT, or surgical technician.
• Completion of a UAP training program with 100 hours of patient care experience within the last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing/ancillary staff in patient transfers and meal tray delivery.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and timely communications.
• Educate and train new staff on Care Team Associate responsibilities.
• Perform routine duties as delegated by nursing staff in routine or emergent situations.
• Record patient information accurately into the bed-management system.
• Respond promptly to patient call lights and document vitals and intake/outtake as directed.
• May perform department-specific duties as outlined in documents.
