Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Nurse Aide for Med Surg on 2S. The role operates 7 pm to 7 am, alternate weekends, under RN supervision, providing routine nursing procedures, patient safety, and room readiness.

Responsibilities include patient care delivery, vital signs, ADLs, and collaboration with nursing staff to maintain a safe environment. Candidates must have HS diploma and BLS; training provided as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification (AHA only) and first aid training.
• De-escalation training provided on the job.
• Ability to read and write at elementary level to understand the care plan and record data.
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic for weight, vitals, I&O.
• Interpersonal skills to interact with patients and families with cultural awareness.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and provide excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Deliver basic nursing care to meet patient needs.
• Respond to patient call lights promptly and relay information to nurses.
• Observe patients and report changes in condition promptly.
• Assist with activities of daily living and nourishment.
• Adapt care delivery to patient needs.
• Assist with vital signs, baths, Foley care, and specimen collection as per policy.
• Ensure safe body mechanics during transfers and lifting.
• Assist with charting and data collection as required.
