Job summary

Nemours is seeking a full-time night shift Unit Clerk for the NICU in Orlando, FL. The unit clerk provides clerical, reception and secretarial support, collaborating with nurses and physicians to meet patient and family needs with courteous, timely service.

The role requires at least 1 year of post-high school training, a high school diploma or GED, completion of Medical Terminology, BLS certification within 30 days, and basic office/computer skills.

Qualifications

• One year of training beyond high school or equivalent.
• Completion of a Medical Terminology Course.
• American Heart Association BLS required within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum of 6 months experience.
• Understanding of basic office skills, including proficiency with computers.

Responsibilities

• Gives a complete report to charge nurse and/or on-coming shift regarding new patients, transfers, discharges and pending issues.
• Facilitates communication of pertinent information to health care team members.
• Assembles, labels, maintains, and prepares patient charts for scanning into EMR.
• Prints electronic charts as needed and requested.
• Initiates requests to other departments in a timely manner.
• Greet patients and families, provide courteous reception on unit.
• Cross-covers for patient care tech in their absence.
• Communicates effectively to relay information to staff and families.
