Job summary

MercyOne Central Iowa in Des Moines, IA, seeks a dedicated NICU nurse for the Night Shift in a Level III unit. The role involves delivering high-quality, patient-centered care within a collaborative team of neonatologists and specialists.

You will work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, and provide specialized care for high-risk newborns and full-term infants with support from a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in Iowa or a compact state is required.
• BLS certification must be current or obtained within 6 weeks of hire.
• Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and implement nursing care with patient comfort in mind.
• Follow safe patient handling techniques.
• Continually evaluate patients and provide ongoing treatment.
• Address educational and emotional needs of patients and families.
• Direct and guide healthcare personnel in patient care.
• Maintain knowledge of equipment setup and use.
• Operate IV pumps and monitoring equipment to maximize safety.
• Initiate emergency measures as needed.
• Assist with routine patient care tasks.
