Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Inc. is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist II in Troy, MI, on a night shift (11:00 PM–7:30 AM) with rotational weekends. Responsibilities include testing, QC, equipment maintenance, and LIS documentation, with emphasis on accuracy and timely results.

Required one year of high-complexity lab experience; three years preferred in the same department. A BS/BT in Medical Technology or related field is expected; ASCP certification preferred.

Qualifications

• One (1) year full-time experience or training in high complexity testing in a clinical laboratory setting.
• Minimum of 3 years clinical experience, most recent year in current department.
• ASCP Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Proficient in testing areas and troubleshooting department instruments/procedures.
• Support QC, complex problem troubleshooting, instrument maintenance, staff training, and process improvement.
• Perform and report analytical tests per SOPs, ensuring QC requirements are met.
• Adhere to specimen handling, processing, reporting, and record-keeping policies.
• Maintain turnaround times including STAT or critical results communications.
• Document QC and enter results into LIS for physician review.
• Maintain safe, functional laboratory areas and equipment; complete training checklists.
