Job summary

UMass Memorial Health Marlborough Campus Lab is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform and interpret chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests to aid in patient diagnosis. You will be fully proficient with the equipment and procedures for the assigned area, and work with considerable independence.

The role includes supervising staff, ensuring quality control, maintaining records, and assisting in new test development.

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Medical Technology.
• ASCP MT certification preferred.
• Minimum of three years of related laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Follows established protocols to perform various tests, including the most complex, for an assigned area. Provides guidance to lower-level staff in interpreting complex results.
• Interprets test results in context of patient history and diagnosis to inform appropriate action.
• Troubleshoots testing process discrepancies.
• Assists in development of new tests and quality procedures for the assigned area.
• Maintains accurate records of tests performed and ensures compliance with quality/safety policies.

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Medical Technology

ASCP MT certification (preferred)
