Job summary

WI ACL Laboratories - AMC Sinai: Tech is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Technician to perform and monitor clinical tests in a care-driven lab setting. The role includes evening hours in a block schedule, supporting critical care departments and high-quality reporting of results.

Requires an Associate’s Degree in Clinical Lab Technician or related field, ASCP BOC or AMT certification within 1 year, and no prior experience required. Competitive night-shift pay applies.

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests as authorized within established protocols, selecting and performing additional procedures when indicated.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance, validity and appropriateness; follows policy in reporting and notification of test results.
• Performs and documents calibration and maintenance of instruments and equipment; performs and documents quality control; evaluates QC results and takes corrective action.
• Collects specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients according to established protocol; ensures proper labeling and suitability for testing.
• Provides technical assistance to Phlebotomists and support staff.
• Assists in improving quality and efficiency of laboratory procedures, policies, and processes; ensures compliance with accrediting standards.
• Performs specialty testing in various areas (transfusion services, microbiology, chemistry, hematology, histology, coagulation, flow cytometry).
• Provides direct support and timely, accurate laboratory results for critical care departments during high acuity events.
