Job summary

UW Health in Madison, WI seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for the Core Lab to perform moderately complex tests and some high complexity testing. The role includes preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of lab instruments, with a focus on safety and accurate reporting.

The position offers a comprehensive benefits package, sign-on bonus opportunity up to $10,000, and shifts include nights with differential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology (or equivalent).
• 60 semester hours including 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology or 24 semester hours of science courses.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science (biology).

Responsibilities

• Perform moderately complex diagnostic tests and limited high complexity testing.
• Perform preventative maintenance on select lab equipment or instruments.
• Perform troubleshooting on select laboratory equipment or instruments as a scientist.
• Promote a culture of safety for patients through proper identification, proper reporting, documentation, and prevention of medical errors in a non-punitive environment.
