Akron Children's Hospital in Canfield is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Emergency Department on the night shift. This full-time role (72 hours bi-weekly) is onsite and reports to a Provider or licensed Nurse. You will handle clinical and administrative tasks to support patient flow in a fast-paced ED.

Qualifications include a Medical Assistant program credential, BLS, and familiarity with EPIC. The position emphasizes phlebotomy, data collection, and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Program, EMT Program, or Paramedic Program required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for examination; takes and records vital signs; performs phlebotomy as needed; administers medications as directed by the Providers according to policy and procedure.
• Collects data contributing to the assessment and evaluation of individualized care and needs of patients under the direction of the Licensed Nurse.
• Collects, processes, and submits laboratory specimens in accordance with policy and procedure.
• Communicates patient findings to the Provider and/or Licensed Nurse using appropriate documentation.
• Accurate and timely documentation of care within EPIC system.
• Performs point-of-service activities such as appointment scheduling, visit preparation, co-payment collection and patient tracking.
• Performs clinical duties department-specific such as POCT and screenings.
• Performs routine tasks and general office duties such as faxing, copying, filing.
• Cleans, stocks, and prepares examination rooms.
• Develops positive relationships with patients and families.
• Follows safety policies to ensure a safe environment.
