Job summary

Saint Alphonsus NAMPA Medical Center in Nampa, Idaho, seeks a Night Shift Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist to perform tests supporting patient diagnosis and treatment. You will rotate across Chemistry, Blood Bank, Heme/Coag, Micro & Special Chemistry, uphold QC and instrument maintenance, and interpret results with professional judgment.

Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree and ASCP/AMT certification (or registry eligibility within 1 year of hire), plus completion

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• ASCP/AMT certification or registry eligibility within 1 year of hire date.
• Completion of medical technology training required.

Responsibilities

• Rotate in Chemistry, Blood Bank, Heme/Coag, Micro & Special Chemistry.
• Performs, records and reviews scheduled QC; takes corrective action when QC is outside limits.
• Performs and records routine maintenance of equipment; documents poor instrument performance and acts.
• Verifies specimen labeling, integrity and suitability before testing.
• Performs low, medium and high complexity testing according to protocols.
• Reports test results accurately and reports critical results per protocol.
• Prioritizes work to maintain efficiency and assists other areas as needed.
• Perform phlebotomy when needed according to lab policies.
• Monitors supply inventory and ensures needed supplies are available.
• Reviews work performed by clinical laboratory assistants and performs corrective actions if required.
• Ensures accuracy of work reported; communicates with oncoming shift, nurses/physicians as appropriate.
