Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Health System's Nampa Medical Center in Nampa, Idaho, seeks a MED LAB SCIENTIST/CLINICAL LAB SCIENTIST to perform diverse laboratory tests, ensure QC, and maintain instruments within regulatory standards.

The role involves rotating in Chemistry, Blood Bank, Heme/Coag, Micro & Special Chemistry, phlebotomy when needed, and timely reporting of results. A Bachelor's degree and ASCP/AMT/CLS certification or registry eligibility within 1 year are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree Required.
• Certification by ASCP/AMT/CLS or registry eligible and obtained within 1 year of hire date.
• Completion of medical technology training required.

Responsibilities

• Rotate in Chemistry, Blood Bank, Heme/Coag, Micro & Special Chemistry.
• Perform, record and review QC; take corrective action when out of limits.
• Maintain equipment and document performance; act independently when needed.
• Verify specimen labeling and suitability before testing.
• Perform low, medium and high complexity testing according to protocols.
• Report results accurately; communicate critical results per protocol.
• Prioritize work to maintain efficiency; assist other areas as needed.
• Perform phlebotomy when required per policies.
• Monitor inventory and ensure supplies are available.
• Review work of CL assistants and perform corrective actions when needed.
• Complete tasks without supervisor direction.
• Ensure accuracy of reported work and communicate with oncoming shift.
