Job summary

Copeland is hiring a Mechanical Technician for our Sidney, OH facility to design, assemble and test oil-free centrifugal compressors for HVACR systems. You will work with engineers in a state-of-the-art lab, assembling, testing and validating centrifugal components onsite.

The role requires an Associate degree and 3 years of related experience, plus the ability to read drawings and electrical schematics. Expect 3rd shift, overtime, and an off-shift differential in a fully onsite environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a related field and three years of relevant experience or equivalent combination
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
• Hands-on experience with mechanical equipment and basic instrumentation
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications
• Legal authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship not available

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers to create and test bearing technology for Copeland centrifugal compression
• Operate lab assembly and measurement equipment (laser welders, hydraulic presses, micrometers, torque wrenches, etc.)
• Fabricate components for standard and non-standard tests (heat treating, welding, brazing, soldering, grinding, drilling)
• Collect and document build data to ensure standards and takt times
• Assist with lab upkeep, 5S+1 audits, safety walks and quality checks
