Job summary

Recology in Seattle is seeking a skilled maintenance mechanic for night shift to diagnose and repair heavy landfill equipment and processing systems. You will work on vehicles, balers, conveyors, and related machinery, performing welding and fabrication as needed while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires four years of journey-level mechanical experience, CDL eligibility, and comfort working in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Four years of mechanical experience as a journeyman mechanic or equivalent.
• Waste and recycling industry experience preferred.
• Experience with DOT Out-of-Service Criteria and CHP inspections.
• Knowledge of diesel and/or natural gas engines and heavy equipment components.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses, tests, and repairs vehicles and landfill equipment including powertrains, drivetrains, and electrical systems.
• Diagnoses and repairs refuse vehicles and transfer trailers including hydraulics, body controls, and electrical systems.
• Maintains processing equipment such as balers, conveyors, and electric motors.
• Performs basic fabrication work using welding equipment.
• Orders and maintains shop parts, tools, and supplies.
• Completes paperwork and data entry related to work performed.
• Acts as lead worker, directing others and reviewing work.
