Job summary

Recology is seeking an experienced Mechanic to perform maintenance on vehicles and heavy landfill equipment, ensuring safety and continued operation. The role involves diagnosing complex systems, performing repairs on diesel and possibly CNG engines, and leading a team of technicians as needed.

Ideal candidates will have four years of journeyman mechanical experience, knowledge of DOT inspections, and readiness to work in a fast-paced waste management environment.

Qualifications

• Four years of progressively responsible mechanical experience as a journeyman mechanic.
• Waste and recycling industry experience preferred.
• Experience with DOT Out-of-Service Criteria and CHP inspections.
• Experience with maintenance in a facility with vehicles and processing equipment.
• Expert knowledge of diesel and/or CNG engines and heavy equipment components.
• Knowledge of electrical controls and motor systems.
• Understanding of health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses, tests and repairs vehicles and heavy landfill equipment, including powertrains, drivetrains and subsystems.
• Diagnoses, tests and repairs refuse vehicle and trailer body systems (hydraulic, electrical, body control).
• Maintains processing equipment such as balers, conveyors, hoppers, motors and controls.
• Performs basic fabrication work using welding equipment and tools.
• Orders and maintains shop parts, tools, and supplies.
• Completes paperwork and data entries related to work performed.
• Acts as lead worker by directing others and reviewing work.
