Job summary

Recology in Washington state seeks a maintenance technician to perform safety inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and heavy landfill equipment. You will document parts usage and generate repair orders for follow-up actions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of preventive maintenance mechanical experience with heavy vehicles.
• Waste and recycling industry experience preferred.
• Experience and knowledge of DOT Out-of-Service Criteria including DOT compliance audits.
• Experience working in a maintenance facility or related environment with vehicles, processing equipment such as: balers, conveyors, hoppers, electric motors and landfill equipment preferred.
• Basic knowledge of diesel and/or compressed natural gas engines, heavy equipment mechanical components and use of tools and techniques.
• Knowledge of alternating and direct current electrical controls and motor systems.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local job site health and safety rules, regulations and best practices; understanding of potential job hazards.
• Basic computer programs.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance and safety inspections on company vehicles, heavy landfill equipment and stationary equipment.
• Accurately and efficiently completes paperwork and/or computer database entries relating to the work performed, documenting parts and supply usage.
• Generates repair orders to communicate defects or areas of concerns for follow up and/or corrective action.
• Performs minor repairs and cleaning of components as required.
• Operates forklift and other yard equipment as required.
• Performs all work in accordance to company standards and policies and DOT standards for safety.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area in accordance with company policy and federal, state and local requirements.
