Job summary

Axalta is seeking a Master Mechanic for the 3rd shift in Houston, TX. The role oversees maintenance activities, ensuring reliability, safety, and optimal performance of production equipment, including powder coating systems and extrusion lines.

The ideal candidate has 7–10 years of industrial maintenance experience, strong mechanical/electrical troubleshooting skills, and familiarity with CMMS and maintenance planning. Will work cross-functionally and ensure OSHA-compliant practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7–10 years of Industrial Maintenance experience.
• Strong background in mechanical systems, industrial electrical, and PLC basics.
• Experience with powder coating equipment, extrusion lines, and grinding systems is preferred.
• Welding, fabrication, and machining experience preferred.
• Technical degree or certification in industrial maintenance or related field.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on equipment including powder coating booths, ovens, conveyors, extrusion machines and related feed systems.
• Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical issues and implement effective solutions.
• Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate with production, safety, and quality departments to ensure equipment reliability and compliance.
• Plan and schedule maintenance work orders, spare parts usage, and machine overhauls.
• Maintain maintenance logs, service records, and equipment performance documentation.
• Recommend and implement process improvements for efficiency, safety, and quality.
• Ensure all work complies with OSHA, NFPA, and plant safety standards.
• Participate in capital project planning, installation, and equipment commissioning.
