Job summary

Target is seeking an Engineering & Facilities Maintenance Technician 1 (MT1) responsible for maintaining and repairing automated material handling and facility equipment in a supply chain facility. You will use preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshoot breakdowns, and collaborate with Senior Systems Engineers on root cause analysis to keep operations flowing.

The role offers an entry-level path with potential promotion to Maintenance Technician 2.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Possess or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license.
• Basic PC competency and ability to use mobile apps on handheld devices.
• Familiar with wiring diagrams, symbols and electrical measuring.
• Experience with work order management and preventive/predictive maintenance.
• Experience with basic carpentry, plumbing, and blueprints; industrial tools.
• Preferred: vocational/technical degree in mechanical or electrical field.
• 2+ years apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs, automated conveyors; robotics a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical aspects of Material Handling Equipment on site.
• Adjust, reset, repair, or replace belts, chains, cables and wear components.
• Inspect and service motors, sensors, relays, and drives to keep equipment running.
• Read basic electrical schematics and use meters and infrared thermometers.
• Follow safety procedures and use PPE; assist in root cause analysis with engineers.
