Job summary

Maola Local Dairies in Newport News, VA is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to repair and maintain machinery, piping, and electrical systems in an industrial setting. The role requires ability to work the 11:00pm–7:30am shift, overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Under supervision, you'll inspect equipment, diagnose problems, perform preventive maintenance, and support boiler and refrigeration work as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Basic mechanical trade knowledge.
• Standard tools, materials, methods and practices involved in building, maintenance and repair including plumbing, electrical and painting.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipe and electrical systems following specification, blueprints, manuals, schematic drawings, using hand tools, power tools, hoist, crane and measuring and testing instruments.
• Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment using electrical and electronic test equipment.
• Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discuss operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines.
• Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts following specifications and blueprints using precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
• Inspect and repair boiler fittings, such as safety valves, regulators, automated-control mechanisms, water columns, pumps, draft fans and burners.
