Job summary

Virginia Department of Corrections — Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (PRN/Night Shift) to deliver evidence-based care under RN supervision. Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Must possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Virginia LPN license or a multi-state compact license.
• Working knowledge of practical or general nursing care.
• Ability to screen complaints and refer to other professionals.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and administer nursing care.
• BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based nursing care using the nursing process under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Screen for sick call, administer medications, and provide first aid and basic life support as needed.
• Maintain open communication with security and treatment staff to assist in treatment planning.
• Record all pertinent information in the medical record.
• Interact with other departments as needed.
• Promote continued competence through education/certification in correctional nursing.
