The South Dakota Department of Corrections - Mike Durfee State Prison in Springfield seeks an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse for night shift nursing care (6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.). A state job with full benefits and a $5,000 hiring incentive is offered.

Responsibilities include medical record documentation, patient assessment, medication administration, and collaboration with telehealth providers. Licensure must be current and in good standing; prior correctional care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current, valid LPN license from the South Dakota Board of Nursing or any state participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).

Responsabilités

• documents in an accurate and timely manner to provide comprehensive offender medical records
• provides assistance to the telehealth provider by facilitating medical appointments and providing medical assistance
• provides standardized patient education within established nursing guidelines
• transcribes reports at change of shifts
• performs clinical care and treatments, administers medications, collaborates on treatment plans, and ensures infection control measures
• assists physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners with minor medical and surgical procedures
• monitors and restocks medications and supplies
• ensures safety and security of the clinical environment
• participates in training programs including Basic Training Academy and Threat Pattern Recognition self defense course
