Job summary
The Department of Corrections - Correctional Health in Sioux Falls is seeking a Night Shift Licensed Practical Nurse to provide skilled nursing care for incarcerated offenders across clinic settings. This is a full-time position with a rotating schedule, includes weekend coverage on a every-third weekend basis, and offers a $5,000 hiring incentive.
Candidates must hold a current SD LPN license and demonstrate strong documentation, confidentiality, and patient-care skills.
Qualifications
- Current, valid LPN license from SD Board of Nursing.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to read and write English proficiently.
Responsibilities
- Documents offender medical records accurately and timely.
- Provides patient education within nursing guidelines.
- Transcribes shift reports and maintains confidentiality.
- Administers medications and assists with procedures as needed.
- Ensures medication/restock needs are met and reports supply issues.
- May assist in restraining an offender for medical reasons.
- Monitors and reports patient conditions and treatment effectiveness.
- Maintains safety and security of the clinical environment.
- Operates clinical equipment as required.
- Attends training including Basic Training Academy and Threat Pattern Recognition course.
- May work any shift, weekends, and holidays.
