Job summary

NATIONAL RETAIL TRANSPORTATION is seeking a Dispatcher for a 3rd shift (11 PM–9 AM) in North Bergen, NJ. You will coordinate freight, drivers, and vehicle availability to optimize schedules and maintain DOT compliance. This role requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities include directing drivers, assigning routes, monitoring performance, and maintaining accurate records in AS400. A minimum of two years in dispatch and a high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a dispatch role managing logistics and transportation
• Ability to operate under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Strong supervisory and leadership capabilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage drivers to meet performance standards
• Monitor driver activities and provide coaching or disciplinary action as needed
• Evaluate motivation, set benchmarks, and ensure route efficiency
• Review and approve pre-planned routes for compliance
• Coordinate with terminal manager to plan labor for customer needs
• Communicate daily assignments and expectations to drivers
• Update dispatch information in systems and AS400 accurately
• Train drivers on ELD/On-Board devices and related tech
• Ensure on-time pickups and deliveries and resolve issues promptly
• Maintain regulatory documents and ensure DOT compliance
