Job summary

Qualifications

• 6 months to 1 year of experience as a Licensed Psychiatric Technician in acute adult outpatient or inpatient psychiatric unit.
• Must complete annual Workplace Violence Prevention Program/Certificate within 30 days from hire/transfer.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Current California State Licensed Psychiatric Technician license.

Responsibilities

• Accepts and processes physician orders in collaboration with the RN.
• Provides continuous bedside observations and prescribed care under RN direction.
• Reports changes in patient condition and family needs.
• Provides psychoeducational group support and maintains safe therapeutic milieu.
• Participates with interdisciplinary team to ensure appropriate care and resources.
• Demonstrates crisis intervention skills as needed.
• Explains and documents after-care instructions to patients.
• Maintains supplies and equipment, and demonstrates accountability.
• Works independently with minimal supervision.
• Assists in discharge instructions and follow-up appointments.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
