Job summary

GRAIL is seeking a Supervisor, Clinical Laboratory for our Durham, NC site. This on-site, full-time role oversees night-shift laboratory operations from 10:00 pm to 8:30 am EDT, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and regulatory compliance.

You will supervise laboratory associates and technical staff, coordinate workflow, monitor quality, and support staff development while maintaining a culture of safety and accountability.

Qualifications

• Typically requires 6–8 years of relevant laboratory or technical experience
• Knowledge of CAP, CLIA, NYSDOH, ISO 15189 standards
• Experience in regulated medical device and clinical study environments

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily laboratory operations and workflow coordination
• Coach and provide performance feedback to staff
• Verify staff proficiency before testing patient specimens
• Monitor SOPs, quality control, and regulatory compliance
• Ensure accurate sample handling and data documentation
• Lead scheduling and workload distribution
• Onboard and train new staff and assess competency
• Escalate complex issues to management as needed
• Maintain PPE use and hazardous waste handling
• Contribute to process improvements and audits

Education

Bachelor's degree in life science

ASCP MLS/MT or equivalent preferred
