Job summary

HCA Healthcare Laboratory Services in Florida is seeking a Lab Assistant / Phlebotomist to perform non-technical duties under supervision, including specimen collection, processing, and registration. You will support the department’s goals for service quality and compliance while maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities include venipunctures and heel sticks across age groups, use of the LIS, documentation, patient education, and coordinating with referral laboratories.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in venipunctures and heel sticks across age groups.
• Ability to interact with co-workers and provide excellent customer service.
• Follows procedures for patient identification, specimen collection, and testing.
• Experience with registration and clerical duties related to specimen processing.

Responsibilities

• Collect and process specimens following established procedures.
• Assist in patient registration and order entry to ensure timely testing.
• Document specimen collection and testing activities accurately.
• Education patients and/or families on specimen collection procedures.
• Maintain and use the laboratory information system (LIS) effectively.
