Job summary

MercyOne Medical Group in Davenport, IA is seeking a Lab Assistant to support laboratory departments through collection, processing, analysis and reporting of tests for patient diagnosis and treatment.

Qualifications

• Laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipunctures, finger sticks and heel sticks according to policy.
• Accepts specimens and manages add-on orders and pending lists.
• Identifies patients and specimens using two identifiers and labels containers.
• Registers and logs specimens in LIS and documents required information.
• Performs specimen processing and documentation per protocol.
• Assists in resolving problematic specimens and test orders.
• Adheres to safety, infection control and chemical-handling procedures.
• Operates LIS to support data entry and workflow management.
• Restocks supplies and participates in department projects as assigned.
