Job summary

MercyOne Medical Group in Davenport, IA is seeking a Clinic Lab Technician for a full-time, day-shift position. Schedule is 8:30 am to 5 pm with 8 hour shifts, off Tuesdays, rotating weekends and holidays. Join a team dedicated to quality patient care and lab services.

You will perform venipuncture, use LIS for orders and results, educate patients on specimen collection, handle specimens, and assist with CLIA testing under supervision. Strong computer skills and teamwork are required.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant, Certified Phlebotomist or other healthcare studies preferred.
• Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new systems and tools quickly.
• Comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
• Must possess a personal presence with honesty, integrity and caring, aligned with mission and values.

Responsibilities

• Proficient in obtaining blood samples via venous and capillary techniques from patients of all ages.
• Uses Laboratory Information System to activate, order, and result laboratory tests.
• Educates patients on proper specimen collection (urine, stool, sputum).
• Reviews orders for accuracy and may contact providers for clarification.
• Processes specimens, including centrifuging and storage to maintain integrity.
• Prepares specimens for transfer to reference labs and handles STAT transfers.
• Performs waived and moderately complex CLIA testing under supervision.
• Maintains records such as temperature monitoring, QC, and maintenance.
• Works as part of a fast-paced team while upholding Standards of Behavior.
